MaineCristian and his family were delightful. He was very helpful in sharing information about Tropea and was available to assist us when we had particular concerns or needs during our stay. The villa, overlooking Tropea and the sea and the islands was very comfortable, with particular attention to details, both inside and out. We enjoyed the offerings of privacy on the roof terrace, sitting in the shady gardens, or being inside preparing meals. Situated on the hillside above town, the villa was close enough to walk to all amenities, including the beach, markets, and restaurants. We realize there are many wonderful rentals in Tropea, but can not imagine visiting again without staying at this villa. Cliff.M.We just returned from a nice vacation in Tropea. Cristian Buttafuoco and his family were wonderful hosts and he provided valuable information to make our stay enjoyable. We stayed in the smaller of the two villas and it accommodated 2 adults and a child comfortably (the travel crib worked great for our son). The property is quiet, with a wonderful sea view and bearing lemon trees. The rooftop terrace provides an additional option for relaxing and/or eating. It's very close to the train station, but there must only be very light trains as you can barely hear them. The beach is about 5 minutes away by car (Beware that certain streets in the city center are only open to residents, so be sure to ask before you drive into town). There are at least two routes to get there, but the shorter one includes some narrow turns. The slightly longer route is a little easier to navigate. If you don't have a car, you can still walk to the city and beach. Just be advised that at night, the roads that lead to the villa can be quite dark and drivers can be aggressive, so be careful. The city center has many shops with souvenirs, there are also several restaurants you can enjoy. If we are ever fortunate enough to return to Calabria, we would definitely like to stay here again! Nicole CoppelmansA great holiday home with astonishing view! View on sea, Tropea, coastline and vulcano Stromboli. We had a nice breakfast and dinner in the patio in the sun or shade. The garden is full of roses and fresh lemons. If you love the Italians and their lifes, then this is the place to be! Owner and family (they live next door) are very hospitable. They surprised us with a spontaneous spaghetti lunch, Calabrian style. They helped us instantly with any question or request we had. The house is only 500 meters away from the beautiful village Tropea and its beach. We had a good swim in the clear water. Lots of good restaurants, market with great products. Railwaystation near village of Tropea. We visited the place beginning of May and the temperature was between 25 and 33 degrees Celcius. We visited the place with three adults and two children (9 and 11). Thanks Cristian Buttafuoco and your family! We had a great time! We recommand this property to anyone who loves Italy. Car recommended. Recommended for: Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Romantic Getaway.Nicole Netherlands2010-05-16
MarkWe were spending a wonderfull week in Tropea this summer. We are 2 adult pairs who loved it. Both the beatifull town with its narrow streets, good restaurants and beaches, but altso the apartement with its comfortable rooms and the nice , very helpfull family next door, the owners. Most of all we loved sitting in the warm evenings on the patio with a good meal and wine overlooking the town, the sea and Stromboli. This property can be recomended to everybody who likes to walk and be active. RosieWe arrived and were met by a lovely, charming Italian family who live next door. Cristian was a very good host and was able to give us lots of information about the locality. The house is spacious, spotlessly clean and comfortable. It has a well equipped kitchen and a really large living/dinning room for family meals. There is a good sized garden, but for our stay at Easter it was too early to make full use of the outside area. The view from the house across the town and the sea is stunning. The pleasant walk into town took 10 minutes but fifteen minutes when walking back up hill. Take a torch for dark evenings. Tropea is a fantastic town. It has many shops, cafes and restaurants. The people are very friendly and welcoming. The daily food market was great. Tropea has some of the best beaches we have ever visited.Recommended for: Girls Getaway, Tourists without a Car, Sightseeing, Families with TeenagersCanada2010-04-05
